Science in P1
We are learning about ‘People Who Help Us,’ and lately we have been thinking about farmers and farm produce.
During play based learning we made an apple crumble and discovered that after a while the apples turned brown.
We decided we would find out what keeps an apple from turning brown. We were introduced to the terms predicting, observing and recording. P1 guessed what liquid would work best, then looked closely at the apples and recorded their results.
During our investigation time we also had to guess what shape we would see inside an apple and predict how many seeds might be inside. Then we cut open the apple and recorded the results.
We had a go at independently labelling the parts of the apple.
Carniny definitely have some talented scientists for the future!
