Northern Ireland Cup- Runners Up
The Football Team participated in the IFA's National Northern Ireland Cup 7 a side competition last Thursday.
The team finished runners up in the tournament which is a MASSIVE achievement for the boys. We as a school are extremely proud of this achievement.
In the 'group stages' we played 6 matches- winning three and drawing three...
We were then drawn against Harpur's Hill (Coleraine) in the semi-final (winning that 2-0)
The final was a closely contested event against 'Drumgor Primary School' (Craigavon/Portadown)
We had previously drawn 1-1 with the same team in the group stages. Unfortunately we conceded a late headed goal from a corner and eventually lost the match 2-0.
The boys should be highly commended for their attitude, commitment and will to win especially in the particularly hot conditions. the final could very easily have gone either way- but one piece of magic from one of their players made the difference.
A very proud moment for the school- with only losing 1 match all year- unfortunately that match being the Final of the Northern Ireland Cup.
Below are a handful of photographs taken throughout the day.
Well done boys- not many people can say they played in a NI Cup final
